KEEP PRESSING
Have you ever felt stuck in your spiritual walk? You are praying for something over and over again, but there doesn’t seem to be any visible change. We may be praying for the salvation or deliverance of a loved one. Or we may be praying for a marriage to heal or for a prodigal child to return. Perhaps we are praying for a financial breakthrough or a career move.
The problem isn’t in our prayers–it’s that we aren’t getting any answers from God. We start to wonder if we are praying for the right thing or if it’s in God’s plan for our lives. There is a great temptation in these times to retreat from our prayer life and just let what happens happen. Yet we know that giving up is exactly what Satan wants us to do. When we stop praying, the devil counts it as his victory.
It’s time we regroup and press further into the Lord. This means we shift focus from seeking to have our prayers answered to pressing towards knowing God in a deeper way. We still pray faithfully, yet we begin our prayer time with a focus of seeking out God for Himself rather than what He can do for us.
When we press in this way, we begin to understand the ways of the Lord and we relax in the peace that He is working it out. We learn to trust in His promises without doubting, even when things seem to get worse instead of better. Pressing on in the faith may mean that we get up earlier or stay up later in conversations with God and meditations in His word.
