Less people have an awareness of their spiritual state of depravity. More children grow up in homes where neither parent has any church affiliation. Yet, they also grow up more exposed to sexual immorality, violence, and self-gratification. There’s an entire generation that knows nothing about the significance of believers gathering together on Sundays to worship God. A culture without spiritual values or awareness is bound towards meaninglessness in all things. The sacredness of life, marriage, family, or work is wrapped more and more in the empty pursuit of selfish gain.
Rather than moan and groan about the state of our world—we have a charge as believers to be the salt and light in our communities. We are the flavor of Jesus Christ when we bring joy instead of glum to our schools and workplaces. We are the light of Jesus Christ when we speak the truth in love instead of using vitriolic speech. Our words and actions reflect Jesus as the true Messiah and Savior of the world. How can we live the spiritual life in a God-less world? Determine to pray every day for an opportunity to represent Jesus Christ.
Decide that our response to controversy will be with grace and wisdom from God.
Dare to live out what we confess and believe every single day.
Do what we know is right even if we are uncomfortable or tempted to do otherwise.
Disciple those God brings into our lives with consistent engagement and spiritual investment.
Dig deeper into the Scripture for understanding and clarity of what God’s word teaches.
Delay our desire for instant gratification to set aside times of intercession and fasting.
If we make up our minds to do these spiritual acts of worship, God will draw the hearts of men, women, and children to Himself. We are the hands and feet of Jesus to those who live and are a part of this god-less generation.
