Throw Deep In Your Faith

Have you ever felt tested in your faith? You may feel God leading you in a direction that seems different from everyone else. You are tempted to play it safe and comfortable instead of throwing deep and trusting God completely. Everyone who’s growing in their spiritual walk will face this time of testing in their faith. For some of us it could mean going on a short-term mission trip while others of us may sense the calling to become long term missionaries. Whatever the test, it’s a choice to throw deep or stay shallow in our faith. How do we throw D-E -E-P in our faith? D – Decide to trust God completely. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:4-5) God is worthy of our Trust into His hands. Our faith will grow as we constantly stay in His word and remind ourselves of His promises. E – Expect opposition to your faith. “So that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.” (2 Corinthians 2:11) As soon as we decide to throw deep in our faith, we will experience doubts and fears from within and without. Yet, we must press forward in faith knowing that God is greater than anything that attempts to stand in our way. E – Engage your faith with action. “So also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” (James 2:17) It’s possible to talk on and on about our faith in God and never put it into action. Our faith in God becomes emboldened when we take action. P – Pray intensely and expectantly. “Pray without ceasing.” (2 Thessalonians 5:17) When we throw deep in our faith, we are committing ourselves to faithful and consistent prayer. This continuous connections with God helps us stay the course when we feel tempted to give up.
